The BYD Seal is based on the company’s Ocean-X concept car and is seen as the most direct competitor to the Tesla Model 3. It may be launched under the ‘Atto 4’ moniker in Australia.

BYD unveiled the concept Ocean-X at the launch of its e-platform 3.0 last September as a prototype for the company’s Ocean series sedan, which is smaller in size than the flagship Han model.

The BYD Seal measures 4,800 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width and 1,460 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm。

The price range is expected to be RMB 220,000 ($34,710) – 280,000, and could be unveiled around the Beijing auto show, local auto media Xchuxing reported late last month.

It’s worth noting, however, that the Beijing auto show is set to be postponed due to the Covid outbreak in several Chinese cities, so it wouldn’t be surprising if BYD’s launch of the model is later than previously expected.
